Our Experience With Reusable Paper Towels

When I first heard about reusable paper towels, I honestly thought it sounded kind of ridiculous (so I understand a lot of the comments I get on social media). But since I was already making reusables for the kitchen, I figured it was worth trying in our own house.

I was especially worried about the laundry situation because laundry is probably the most hated job in our house. To make it easier, I ended up putting a basket under the sink (and sometimes a wet bag on the oven handle), so all the kitchen cloths just have a place to go throughout the day. That alone made it feel way more manageable.

What actually made the biggest difference for us was keeping them rolled up on the counter. We were so used to grabbing paper towels that this made the switch automatic...we’d reach for a cloth instead without even thinking about it.

You could definitely store them in a drawer too, but for me, if they’re out of sight, I know we just won’t use them.

Now my kids are so used to having them around that when we go somewhere without them, they don’t know what to do when they spill something or need a napkin 😅

And if you’re worried about staining, here’s what I do:

I keep two sets, one for lighter everyday use, and one for messes that are a little more intense.

And honestly, I’m okay with the fact that some staining will happen. If they’re doing their job, they’re going to see some life. They still wash up really well and go right into our regular laundry.

I do still buy disposable paper towels occasionally, we just use SO much less than we used to.

We actually got this review last week, and it made me so happy because it’s exactly what I was hoping for when we started making these: something that saves people money, actually works well, and creates less waste.

“I just love these. I have been wanting a set for a while and I'm upset that I waited so long to get them! They instantly paid for themselves after one week of use and I don't feel bad like I do when I use disposable paper towels. They are so cute they can even be used as napkins on a table setting!”

If you’ve been curious about reusable paper towels but thought they might be too much work, you’re probably exactly where I was a few years ago.
