5 Simple Back-to-School Lunch Ideas

Back-to-school season is here! Usually, businesses start posting about this at the beginning of August so parents can get prepared for the start of school, but I just can’t do it. Summer in Canada is too short, so here we are, heading into the second week of school, still trying to get organized. 😉 If you’re like me, this post is for you!

Here are five simple ideas to make back-to-school lunches easier, more sustainable, and maybe even a little fun:

1️⃣ Reusable Paper Towels as Napkins

Skip the disposable napkins and pop a reusable paper towel in your kids’ lunch bag instead. They’re soft, washable, and perfect for sandwiches, snacks, or spills. A quick wash and they’re ready to use again!

2️⃣ Beeswax Wraps for Sandwiches & Snacks

Beeswax Wraps are a game-changer for keeping food fresh without single-use plastic. Wrap sandwiches, apple slices, cheese cubes, muffins, or whatever else your kids love to snack on. Plus, they make lunchboxes look way cuter.

3️⃣ Reusable Snack Bags

Snack bags aren’t just for snacks! Sure, they’re perfect for grapes, carrots, trail mix, or granola bars, but they’re also great for organizing small school supplies, crayons, or even a deck of cards for lunchtime fun.

4️⃣ Bento Box & Lunchbox Hacks

Use wraps and snack bags to keep foods separate and fresh in a bento box or lunch container. Layer items carefully so nothing gets squished, and pack snacks in reusable bags that can double as dividers.

5️⃣ Get Your Kids to Make Their Own Lunch 😉

My favourite tip? Get your kids to make their own lunches!
