A Travel Hack I Didn’t See Coming

We went to visit family last weekend and, as always, made a lot of use out of our wet bags.

They’ve become one of those things we automatically throw in the car before a trip because they end up being useful for so many random situations. Wet clothes, snacks, garbage, laundry…somehow they always end up full of something.

Somewhere along the way, I had a moment of genius and thought I came up with using one as a car garbage bag. Or maybe someone told me that idea at some point and I’m just choosing to take credit for it now ;)

Either way, it worked incredibly well.

No mess, no leaks, and so much better than having a plastic bag sliding around by your feet the entire drive. It stayed upright, held way more than expected, and was easy to empty once we got where we were going.

At one point, the kids even put unfinished cups of water inside one of the wet bags. Thankfully, we still didn’t have any leaks.

A lot of people ask whether our wet bags are waterproof or just water resistant, especially if they’ve used other wet bags before and had issues with moisture seeping through.

The inside of our wet bags are lined with a waterproof, food-safe PUL fabric, and all the seams are heat sealed to help prevent leaks.

The only area that isn’t fully waterproof is the zipper. So if the bag were completely upside down and held that way, you could get leaking through the zipper area. But with normal everyday use (wet clothes, swim gear, snacks, laundry, road trip garbage, or even drinks) we’ve never had issues with leaking.

Honestly, it’s one of those products that becomes more useful the longer you own it because you keep finding new ways to use it. Let me know if you have any other ideas for ways to use your wet bag!
